How was Align Office born?

The Align Office project was born from the desire of three friends, designers, 3D developers and researchers, to create something that would allow them to emancipate themselves from intermediary consulting companies and to get in touch with professionals with skills, values and competencies in line with their vision of modeling and design.

After working for years as freelancers in various automotive companies, they realized that the management of freelancers was in the hands of companies that kept a significant percentage of their hourly pay for their services and that they focused more on quantity than quality. This was making work less and less stimulating.

It was necessary to create a company that would show that another way of working is not only possible, but better. For everyone.

Goals

Align Office wants to be a new business model able to perform together the functions of:

platform for connection, peer-to-peer between hybrid talents and client/server between those talents and our portfolio of companies;

assessment tool to test freelancers’ skills and prove their capabilities.

Who are we?

Hybrid talents. We are product designers who, after working as 3d modellers, have acquired skills not common among designers and realized that, thanks to them, the quality of their work had significantly improved.

Our hybrid skills – formed thanks to parallel work in the field of product design and 3D development– were in fact particularly functional to better realize the tasks entrusted to us by the clients: working as modelers we were able to operate inserting an aesthetic sense and sensitivity unexpected and very much appreciated by the client; working as product designers, we had the tools to be able to offer, through 3d modeling, many different and “ready to go” options, in a very short time and at low cost

What's that?

It is a set of practical tests we have developed in order to allow an aspiring Align collaborator to demonstrate “in the field” how he works and what his skills are. Each Challenge includes specific tests, aimed at a particular target group of professionals and each test will be evaluated by experts in the field, who will give feedback and suggestions.

The function of The Challenge is to allow us to go beyond your CV and see you in action to evaluate your skills from the point of view of problematic approach, fluency in the use of Alias tools, modeling, sensitivity with respect to design, improvisation skills and precision.

Our personal work experience has made us understand how important it can be to build and market a squad of high level modellers and designers hybrid, exclusive and recognizable.

We want our teams to be made up of skilled professionals and our name to be recognized as a synonym of excellence.

Through The Challenge, we want to be able to identify these outstanding professionals and make them join us.

Who's it for?

For hybrid talents like us, willing to put themselves to the test and prove that they do have the qualities to enter Align.
According to the needs of our customers, different calls will be proposed in order to select the most trustworthy professionals.

What's in it for you?

We want to obtain for us and for you the recognition and remuneration that our skills and our work deserve, but to do so we must deeply trust your professionalism, so much that we can put ourselves on the line for you: for the Align concept to work, we must be 100% sure that all team members live up to the best of our expectancies.

What does The Challenge consist of?

You will have to deal with problems that, in order to be solved in time, require technical and intuitive skills out of the ordinary. We will require you to share the screen so that we can see you operating in real time. Once the test is complete, our experts – leaders in the field – will assess your performance and provide you with feedback.

How long does it take to complete the tests?

The idea is to assess how quickly you work. Each test is designed to be carried out over a period of time ranging from 20 minutes to a maximum of 2 hours.

How many tests does the Challenge consist of?

The whole Challenge is made up of 3 tests, but you don’t necessarily have to complete all of them. It will depend on your CV and on the result you obtained in the first one (in terms of time and performance). it is possible that even a 20 minute test is enough to understand how you work.

What if you fail the Challenge?

Up to you! If you want we will pass you a tutorial video showing you how best to pass the tests and you will be given the chance to face the Challenge again; otherwise we can still remain friends and see if other ways to collaborate will arise.

How will the tests be evaluated? And by whom?

Your test will be evaluated taking into account three factors:

the time of realization;

the quality of the result;

your working style (for this we will ask you to share the screen while you work).

For each test, an assessment team will be appointed, consisting of an Align member and an external collaborator of excellence, who will quickly and professionally assess your performance.

More details will be provided at the same time as the assignment of the tests.

What happens next?

Once you pass the test and prove yourself entitled to it, you will become a full-fledged “Aligner”. This means that you will be included in our network of professionals and:

you will be included on the web page as a contributor: we will enhance your image, you will strengthen ours!

you will be contacted for any job offers in line with your profile and your needs (temporal and geographical): we do not have a boss, we will all decide together who is best suited to fill the various positions that we will be commissioned!

you will enjoy the special working conditions that Align is able to offer to its members: we will strive to obtain for you and us the best rates, in line with the high level of our work performance. On top of that,  we have devised an equitable pay system in which management deductions will be as low as possible and an incentive mechanism will be applied based on the feedback from the companies you will work for, your availability and your ability to be a promoter of Align and your co-workers: spread the word!

Will there be any obligation to us?

Absolutely not!, You can work as much as you want and with whomever you want, we will only ask you to include in your LinkedIn page that you have done and passed the Align Challenge, so that we can become more and more visible and it will be increasingly clear that those who have our “quality certificate” are very good professionals, like you.
